Spies Like Us-7.0/10

PG-if it was made now it'd be '13, due to suggestive scenes

This movie was made in 1985. So as anyone could probably guess, connecting the title and the year, this movie is Cold War set. And it's a comedy. Saturday Night Live alumni Chevy Chase and Dan Akroyd star in this movie about two flunkies who are sent on a nuke mission, as decoys, whilst the real spies do there work. Or do they? This movie includes many cameos including Bob Hope and Frank Oz. This movie is pretty funny, and the classic team up of a smart but lazy guy (Akroyd) and just plain stupid guy (Chase). Now if neither of those names ring a bell, they both are in Ghostbusters. Now if you've never seen Ghostbusters... My goodness! You live under some kind of a rock! Family guy fans should immediately see a connection with the episode "Spies Reminscent of Us" just released this year, which is a direct spoof of this movie and Chase and Akroyd even do the voices of there character. A funny episode with funny scenes of who's-funnier. Fans of Ghostbusters should most definitely like this as this is the same kind of humor.

Crank: High Voltage-7.2/10

R- this is like an LA movie, so there's all that nudity and profanity and blood

Jason Statham stars as Chev Chelios in the sequel to Crank! Now I gotta say, I was psyched to see this movie. At the time I REALLY liked Crank, so the sequel, for me, was a must see! And see it I did. Chev Chelios returns with his invincible heart! Let me rephrase that. Chev Chelios returns, and he's missing his heart! That's right. Them darn Asians gone and stole his heart! So he's goin to get it! If you recall in the first Crank, Chev had to keep his adrenaline going to keep him alive. In this one, he must keep himself electrified to keep his electric heart going. Loads of fun right? This movie is good but it seems the Crank people thought long drawn out randomness is funny. Which it can be, but not as extreme as this I'm afraid. It had loads of potential but it's overdone randomness didn't work out. All the main actors from the first Crank return... In one way or another... Even though this movie wasn't great, I still hope for a sequel. Fans of Crank will like this, and such as movies like that.

Crank-8.2/10

R-nudity, F bombs left n right

Jason Statham stars in another action packed movie, although this one, unlike his others, is also a comedy. Fun stuff, right? Yep, it is. Crank is a movie about Chev Chelios (Statham) who wakes up to find that he was injected with some Asian posion, and is going to die within an hour. Or is he? With the help of his druggie doctor friend, he finds there is something that can temporarily put off the poison. Adrenaline. But only temporarily. So Chelios sets out to kill his injector, while keepin' himself pumped all the way there. This movie has a nice ratio of action and comedy, even making it, at one point, my favorite movie. Anyways. Napoleon Dynamite fans will recognize Chelios's other friend is played by "Vote for Pedro" Pedro. Interesting role, my friend. And if you've seen Starsky and Hutch or Just friends, you will recognize Amy Smart, who plays Chelios's stupid girlfriend. Tis a good movie, fans of RocknRolla, the Transporter movies, and movies such as that should enjoy this.

Brüno-7.5/10

R- much male nudity 'n such

I was a pretty big fan of Borat. It took me a while to get to it, but when I did watch it, I liked it. This guy, Sacha Baron Cohen, is an amazing actor, he plays Borat in Borat and this year played Bruno in Brüno. This movie is about a has-been male fasion model and his attempts to become famous as he once was. And he's gay. This movie is as funny, if not funnier then Borat, although all the homosexual stuff got a bit annoying. As with Borat, this movie also is supposeably filmed in front of real people, with real people. Which in and of itself is the funniest stuff. As I once told someone, "Reactions are everything" and this movie also shows that reactions are also hilarious. This movie is funny, but a good many would be offended by the nudity and all the other homo stuff. Fans of Borat should definitely like this movie.

Enter: December!

Whew. My first month of this blog is complete with a total of 29 movie reviews. Thank you, Kairi and Geo Rok for the comments, as I would not continue this blog if there was no audience, so a round of applause for you guys (especially Kairi). I've looked through these posts, and would like to apologize for spelling errors and such. It happens. I'm sorry. But moving forward! The glorious month of December. Let me give you a small hint as to what to expect this month.
Hint: Chances are, there's going to be some Christmas movies reviewed
Hmm a very vague hint you may say, by the time you decipher it, it will probably be too late. I will continue with the new pattern I've set: 1 movie a day, published at 1:00pm my time (California). Again, thanks for reading, and be sure to tell all your friends about this blog!

The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 -3.4/10

R- John Travolta swears much more then he did in Grease

Nothing like a good ol' hostage situation, eh? With some negotiating here and some negotiating there. And what if you throw in a hijacking! Sounds fun, right? And how about to top it off, throw in John Travolta (Grease) and Denzel Washington (Dejavu)! Well now that story right there... Sucks. This movie is about a guy (Travolta) who hijacks a subway train, stops it, and holds everyone hostage. The local subway intercom man (Washington) is the man set to negotiate and all that so the cops can stop him. This movie was way drawn out, and I'm sorry Johnny boy, but you are not a good gangster. Your repeated "motherf******" went from enough, to comical, and then to annoying. Give it up. I've never been a Denzel fan and this movie gives me more reason not to be. This movie, if nothing else, has a working storyline, it just wasn't played out well, and some incidents were too incredibley coincidental. The only kind of people I think would particularly like this movie are Denzel Washington fans, as he plays his normal role as a confused man who tries to help people.
