Spies Like Us-7.0/10

PG-if it was made now it'd be '13, due to suggestive scenes

This movie was made in 1985. So as anyone could probably guess, connecting the title and the year, this movie is Cold War set. And it's a comedy. Saturday Night Live alumni Chevy Chase and Dan Akroyd star in this movie about two flunkies who are sent on a nuke mission, as decoys, whilst the real spies do there work. Or do they? This movie includes many cameos including Bob Hope and Frank Oz. This movie is pretty funny, and the classic team up of a smart but lazy guy (Akroyd) and just plain stupid guy (Chase). Now if neither of those names ring a bell, they both are in Ghostbusters. Now if you've never seen Ghostbusters... My goodness! You live under some kind of a rock! Family guy fans should immediately see a connection with the episode "Spies Reminscent of Us" just released this year, which is a direct spoof of this movie and Chase and Akroyd even do the voices of there character. A funny episode with funny scenes of who's-funnier. Fans of Ghostbusters should most definitely like this as this is the same kind of humor.

Crank: High Voltage-7.2/10

R- this is like an LA movie, so there's all that nudity and profanity and blood

Jason Statham stars as Chev Chelios in the sequel to Crank! Now I gotta say, I was psyched to see this movie. At the time I REALLY liked Crank, so the sequel, for me, was a must see! And see it I did. Chev Chelios returns with his invincible heart! Let me rephrase that. Chev Chelios returns, and he's missing his heart! That's right. Them darn Asians gone and stole his heart! So he's goin to get it! If you recall in the first Crank, Chev had to keep his adrenaline going to keep him alive. In this one, he must keep himself electrified to keep his electric heart going. Loads of fun right? This movie is good but it seems the Crank people thought long drawn out randomness is funny. Which it can be, but not as extreme as this I'm afraid. It had loads of potential but it's overdone randomness didn't work out. All the main actors from the first Crank return... In one way or another... Even though this movie wasn't great, I still hope for a sequel. Fans of Crank will like this, and such as movies like that.

Crank-8.2/10

R-nudity, F bombs left n right

Jason Statham stars in another action packed movie, although this one, unlike his others, is also a comedy. Fun stuff, right? Yep, it is. Crank is a movie about Chev Chelios (Statham) who wakes up to find that he was injected with some Asian posion, and is going to die within an hour. Or is he? With the help of his druggie doctor friend, he finds there is something that can temporarily put off the poison. Adrenaline. But only temporarily. So Chelios sets out to kill his injector, while keepin' himself pumped all the way there. This movie has a nice ratio of action and comedy, even making it, at one point, my favorite movie. Anyways. Napoleon Dynamite fans will recognize Chelios's other friend is played by "Vote for Pedro" Pedro. Interesting role, my friend. And if you've seen Starsky and Hutch or Just friends, you will recognize Amy Smart, who plays Chelios's stupid girlfriend. Tis a good movie, fans of RocknRolla, the Transporter movies, and movies such as that should enjoy this.

Brüno-7.5/10

R- much male nudity 'n such

I was a pretty big fan of Borat. It took me a while to get to it, but when I did watch it, I liked it. This guy, Sacha Baron Cohen, is an amazing actor, he plays Borat in Borat and this year played Bruno in Brüno. This movie is about a has-been male fasion model and his attempts to become famous as he once was. And he's gay. This movie is as funny, if not funnier then Borat, although all the homosexual stuff got a bit annoying. As with Borat, this movie also is supposeably filmed in front of real people, with real people. Which in and of itself is the funniest stuff. As I once told someone, "Reactions are everything" and this movie also shows that reactions are also hilarious. This movie is funny, but a good many would be offended by the nudity and all the other homo stuff. Fans of Borat should definitely like this movie.

Enter: December!

Whew. My first month of this blog is complete with a total of 29 movie reviews. Thank you, Kairi and Geo Rok for the comments, as I would not continue this blog if there was no audience, so a round of applause for you guys (especially Kairi). I've looked through these posts, and would like to apologize for spelling errors and such. It happens. I'm sorry. But moving forward! The glorious month of December. Let me give you a small hint as to what to expect this month.
Hint: Chances are, there's going to be some Christmas movies reviewed
Hmm a very vague hint you may say, by the time you decipher it, it will probably be too late. I will continue with the new pattern I've set: 1 movie a day, published at 1:00pm my time (California). Again, thanks for reading, and be sure to tell all your friends about this blog!

The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 -3.4/10

R- John Travolta swears much more then he did in Grease

Nothing like a good ol' hostage situation, eh? With some negotiating here and some negotiating there. And what if you throw in a hijacking! Sounds fun, right? And how about to top it off, throw in John Travolta (Grease) and Denzel Washington (Dejavu)! Well now that story right there... Sucks. This movie is about a guy (Travolta) who hijacks a subway train, stops it, and holds everyone hostage. The local subway intercom man (Washington) is the man set to negotiate and all that so the cops can stop him. This movie was way drawn out, and I'm sorry Johnny boy, but you are not a good gangster. Your repeated "motherf******" went from enough, to comical, and then to annoying. Give it up. I've never been a Denzel fan and this movie gives me more reason not to be. This movie, if nothing else, has a working storyline, it just wasn't played out well, and some incidents were too incredibley coincidental. The only kind of people I think would particularly like this movie are Denzel Washington fans, as he plays his normal role as a confused man who tries to help people.

Best in Show-6.8/10

PG-13 -Language, suggestive themes

Have you ever watched any dog shows? It's pretty boring usually, but there something to watch, dogs getting evaluated 'n such. This movie takes you behind the scenes in a mock documentary type comedy way. The movie focuses on 5 (I think...) of the dogs entering the show, and there oddball owners. From the boring bloodhound owner, to the crazy poodle lesbians. This movie is pretty funny, with many funny actors including Eugene Levy (American Pie), John Michael Highins (Yes Man), Jane Lynch (Role Models), Fred Willard (this guy is in everything), and Jennifer Coolidge (Legally Blonde). Some may not like the gay or lesbian couple in this movie, as they are stereotypical extreme homos. Which makes this movie even funnier. I gotta say, it was nice seein actors such as John Michael Higgins and Jane Lynch in bigger roles, in most movies I've seen they've played side characters at best. I'd recommend this movie to fans of such comedies as Role Models and comedies with above named actors.

In Bruges-7.8/10

R-language, some drug use, and blood

This movie is about the effects following an assassin's mistake of accidentally killing a child. The assassin is played by Colin Farrell (SWAT, Minority Report) and plays the role well. Keep in mind this movie takes place in Bruges, Belgium, so accents are present. This movie has a good storyline with nice twists and all that good stuff, as well as having a somewhat dark humor floating in the background. Harry Potter fans should take note that Harry (ha) played by Ralph Fiennes plays Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter films. In the longrun, I recommend
this movie to fans of such movies as The Minority Report and RocknRolla, although keep in mind, I mentioned humor, but I would not consider this movie an outright comedy.

"You're right, it's a f****ing fairy tale"

Nim's Island-0.6/10

PG- stands for 'Please Get this movie out of your hands'

I honestly hope I never see a movie as bad as this one. I can't even begin to imagine how you can get much worse then this. This movie is about this girl and her dad that live paradise like on this island. Something happens to her dad so the girl must call upon her favorite author to help. Here's a brief list of why this movie sucks. a)the acting of the little girl was horrid b)Jodie Foster dances in this movie c)the storyline was very predictable. That's very brief. And here's a real knee slapper, the girl tells the father at one point "I'm not a little girl anymore, I can take care of myself" she is eleven. I think I'm actually being too nice with my rating. It has Gerard Butler in it, and he's usually good. I hope he regrets this movie. I recommend this movie to absolutely no one.

Role Models- 3.7/10

R-Language, suggestive themes, nudity

Anyone here ever watched the U.S Open or Wimbeldon or any of those big tennis events? Because I always though Andy Roddick (tennis player) looked like Sean William Scott (actor). Anyways. This movie is about two friends who must serve 150hours of community service through a child mentoring program. Wheeler (Sean William Scott) is assigned to a rowdy and bad mouthed little black boy, and Danny (Paul Rudd) is assigned to a nerdy teen. This movie has it's moments, as all comedies do, and the first two thirds or so are pretty funny. But the last half hour or so is terrible. All it is is them being all nerdy fighting in a mock medieval style war. Which destroyed the movie for me. Like I said, the first part is still pretty funny, and amusing, with a fairly original storyline. I'd recommend this movie to fans of I Love you,Man, 40 Year Old Virgin, and movies of that type.

Up-4.8/10

G

Pixar knows what the people like. Due to that, Pixar is gonna milk that cow until marrow starts coming out. Here's my review of Pixar's newer load of milk from the money cow. It's called Up, it's about an old man who, as a child, dreamt of flying to Paradise Falls. That's really all you need to know. Things get complicated, and by the end ofthe movie everyone is happy. It's Pixar, what do you expect, something realistic? This movie isn't terrible, but I'd maybe like it a little more if it wasn't like all the movies Pixar has cranked out for the past decade. Although there is one thing partcularly in this movie that does not add up at all. So this kid likes this famous pilot, right? So the kid grows up to be an old man, and meets the pilot. Who oddly seems as fit as the man who liked him as a boy... Sorry Pixar, you can make fish talk and robots with a heart, but you can't alter time itself. I'd recommend this movie to people who enjoy Pixar movies. You know who you are...

The Prestige-7.7/10

PG-13 - This could have passed for PG in my opinion, as there is very light violence and no language or nudity

This 2006 movie is about two magicians, Angier and Borden, and their rivalry. Now that at first could sound lame, but maybe knowing that Angier is played by X-Men star Hugh Jackman and Borden is played by Dark Knight star Christian Bale will make you a little more interested. Other actors include Michael Caine (Dark Knight, Austin Powers), David Bowie, and Scarlett Johansson. This is a pretty good movie, full of twists and mysteries. The acting is good, although it's to be expected from such a cast. Also, this movie is set in Thomas Edison kind of time. I'd recommed this movie to fans of The Illusionist, and any other fans of mystery/magic.

Monday, November 23, 2009

Star Trek-7.3/10

PG-13 - violence, light language

Let's say I really liked a show called "Billy Bob" as a kid. Naturally, when they make "Billy Bob" into a full feature film, I would want to see it, and may even say it was good even if it wasn't. That's the problem with movies such as this, and if you think about it, the same
principle could be used toward Obama... But anyways! Chris Pine (Smokin Aces) plays James Kirk, a naughty little boy who drives fancy cars over cliffs and says stupid lines like "Is there a problem officer?" afterwards. You know the kind. But as he grows up, he attempts to live up to his fathers heroic reputaion. This movie has to do with time traveling, and as anyone who's ever seen a serious time traveling movie, you know how complicated and confusing it can be. Besides that, the storyline is half decent, a bit cliche if anything. The acting is decent, Karl Urban (The Bourne Supremacy, The Chronicles of Riddick) plays Bones, Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) plays Scott, John
Cho (Harold and Kumar) is the Liutenant, and the kid from Terminator:Salvation is in this too. Now, as I was explaining in the first line, this movie was heavily overrated due to everyone being a freaking Star Trek nerd. I've never been a fan. I'd recommend this movie to fans of scifi movies, and all that kind of stuff.

Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid-6.8/10

PG- I would give it a 13 rating, but whatever...

This 1982 comedy starring Steve Martin is about a detective (Martin) who is confronted by a woman who thinks her father's death was a murder. Now between those two, there's some comedy, but the movie gets it's interesting comedy from the clips played throughout the movie. By that I mean, there's clips from other mystery movies throughout the movie, as actual characters. For example, they have clips of Bogart throughout the movie with Steve Martin talking to him, even though the clips in the movie are from different Bogart movies. Anyways, it's a funny enough movie, with the clips adding further laughs. This movie is funny enough, with such cameos (I guess that's what you'd call
them) by Humphrey Bogart, Cary Grant, Burt Lancaster, and Ava Gardner. Now obviously this movie is funnier if you've seen the movies they have clips of, or at least have seen movies with those actors. So in the end I'd recommend this movie to fans of Murder by Death, Steve Martin fans, and older mystery movies.

9 - 6.3/10

PG-13 -Cartoon violence

Upon seeing trailers and such for this movie, I wanted to see it, as I always thought a more darker computerized kind of a movie would be interesting. This movie is about 9 little doll things that are struggling to survive on a dead planet. Oh, and one other thing. There's this machine thing hunting them down. So there you have it. The storyline is alright, except for the ending, which was mostly disappointing. This movie also has an all star cast, with Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings) as #9, Jennifer Connelly (Blood Diamond, The Day the Earth Stood Still) as #7, Crispin Glover as #6 and John C Reilly (Dewey Cox, Step Brothers) as #5. They all did well, although it was funny at first hearin Reilly talking, without saying anything funny. Now I gotta say, the graphics of this movie were pretty good, I think we'll be seeing much more serious computerized movies in our future. So at any rate, I'd recommend this movie to fans of apocalyptic mystery type movies, I can't really think of any particular movie that fans of would particularly like this movie... It's too bad this wasn't a really good movie, then I could hve given it a 9.9/10, to match it's theatrical release date of 9/9/09.

Smokin' Aces-8.4/10

R- profanity, blood, mild nudity

I've always liked movies where a bunch of people are all goin' after a hidden treasure, or assassins goin' after a heavy bounty. Which is party why I like this movie. Word gets around that there's a million dollar price on the heart of Buddy Israel a magician/snitch. This movie is loaded with some big names, Buddy is played by Jeremy Piven (RocknRolla), FBI agent Richard Messner is played by Ryan Reynolds (X-Men: Origins, Just Friends). One of the crazy Tremor brothers is played by Chris Pine (Star Trek). Other actors include Alicia Keys, Common, and Ben Affleck (this guy dies in the first half hour of the movie and gets first billing...). This movie is good, with good twists, and a good ending. Fans of RocknRolla should really like this, as they are quite similar, minus the comedy. Also, fans of Ryan Reynolds should be interested in this, as apart from Amityville Horror, this is his most serious role I've seen him in

The Court Jester-6.0/10

G

This 1955 movie (oldest movie I've done so far?) stars comedian Danny Kaye and is kind of robin hood spoofish. A guy (Kaye) working under the freedom fighter Black Fox ends up infiltrating the tyrannical kingdom as a jester. Something to keep in mind, Kaye sings about every ten minutes. Although it's not unberable, like the singing in The Rocker. Anyways, it's an alright movie, has it's funny moments, although this is 19 freakin' 55 we're talkin about, so it's that kind of humor. I don't know how else to put it. Angela Lansbury(Picture of Dorian Grey, Murder She Wrote) plays the princess. Basil Rathbone (this guy starred in a slew of Sherlock Holmes movies, really milked that cow clean) plays the evildoer. and that pretty much wraps it up. Fans of medieval comedies may enjoy this, Cinderfella fans will get a kick out of it, surely, and Danny Kaye fans will obviously like it as well.

Sunshine Cleaning-4.8/10

R- F bombs, brief nudity, crime scene blood

I probably would have never ever picked out this movie to watch. It's not my kind of movie. But it was on, I was bored, so here you have it. Two sisters(one has a kid) are low on money, so one, with the help of her married cop friend, gets a job of cleaning crime scenes. I remember once watching a 20/20 or something about people like that. It's a sticky job, but apparently good money. Which makes sense, if some guy commits suicide in his hotel bathtub, the hotel people are gonna want that cleaned up as quickly and efficiently as possible, right? Anyways so that's the storyline. It's alright. It was made in 2008, starring Amy Adams, Emily blunt, and Alan Arkin, so the acting isn't bad. My main complaint is that it's kind of a slow pace movie... But I watched it all the way through so it wasn't unbearable... I would recommend this movie to... People who... Like this kind of movie... I can't think of any similar movies... Although, I guess fans of Little Miss Sunshine would like it. You tell me.

Location Location Location

I'm sure you've noticing the updates and such I've been making, including: color changes, label changes, "conclusion" option, label "cloud" and search bar. It does not end there! I am currently in the process of a better title display, why am I telling you this? Because I need your help! Basically I need something that can fit in an "O". e.g. The watchmen icon, stewies eye, bullseye. Something movie or show orientated that can pass as an "O". An image link would be great too... And lastly, if you have any suggestions let me know, or if any problems or typeos or any of those nasty things occur. Thank you much, continue to read, comment, and share my blog.

District 9- 4.5/10

R- Them darn aliens swear all kinds.

This is an interesting 2009 movie. Let me rephrase that... This is an interestingly done 2009 movie. Wait, one more time... This is an interestingly annoyingly made 2009 movie. But I'll get to that in a bit... Plot is... Aliens are on earth. Been like that for a while. They're kept in this big old reservation type thing in the UK somewhere. But they're naughty little aliens and everyone wants 'em out. So this dude is in charge of basically evicting 'em by going door to door and yadda yadda. Sounds hilarious, right? The first 20minutes of this movie were quite laughable, because they tried to make the movie feel like a documentary. With news reporters, interviews, and all that stuff that makes
documentaries "legitimate". So that's why the first 20minutes were laughable. There was people being all "oh yeah, these aliens were mistreated and descriminated against". And my favorite part "inter species prostitution" as it shows some chick takin money from
an alien. Ahh yes... If you can get past all that and such, the movie isn't too bad. The effects are pretty nice at some points, and it's not an alls-well-and-ends-well storyline, which is nice. People who like alien movies will like this, people who like movies that are similar to Independance Day will like this, and people who like seein aliens act criminal will absolutely love this.

CinderFella-2.3/10

G

This 1960(yeah, that's almost half a century ago) Jerry Lewis(king of comedy? I think not) movie is about a servant(Lewis) to a rich family. And a princess is coming into town and Jerry knows where a bunch of money is. Something like that. I'm not a big Jerry Lewis fan, but he does have some alright movies with nice humor. This isn't one of them. Several scenes I fast forwarded through because a) he was just dancing lame dances b)he was singing lame songs c)it was just a drawn out scene or d)all of the above. The humor was light, and the romace was pretty lame. Chances are you'd really have to try to see this movie, but if the chance to watch it ever does come up, unless your a die hard Jerry Lewis fan, decline it. The only reason I watched this was out of sheer, cold, brutal boredom.

The Rocker-3.3/10

PG-13 -For naked man booty, suggestive scenes

I hate movies about people singing. Because, inevitabley there's going to be a scene where some amateur wannabe sings. And everytime that happens, my ears immediately begin stabbing my brain. It's not pleasant. This movie had a whole slew of such scenes. Let's take a look at the plot. A guy(Rainn Wilson) is in a band, they're doin great and everything, but because of some kind of record label problems, the band drops Fish, the nickname of the guy. So the guy moves in with his brother as he watches his old band become famous. Then he hears some punks in the gararge and joins there band and they live happily ever after. Basically. Sounds kind of like School of Rock, right? Although, if my memory serves me correctly... School of Rock was way better. Anyways! The Office fans will recognize Dwight, who plays Fish. So, fans of nothing I like will LOVE this movie. It had maybe two or three scenes where I maybe smiled, a little.

Yes Man-6.2/10

PG-13 -for mild cussing, sexual references, and brief group of naked butt scene

Jim Carrey had some real funny guy back in the day, you know, Mask, Liar Liar, even Fun with Dick and Jane wasn't bad. I think Yes Man may be marking the end of Jim Carrey being as funny as he used to. Don't get me wrong, for a comedy this isn't bad, just not as good as his other stuff. But i'm getting ahead of myself! Here's the plot: Carl's (Carrey) missing out on his life. He ignores his friends, stays at home, unless he's at his crappy bank job. Until he attends a seminar in which he devotes his life to the word 'yes'. This movie had potential. I could read that plot and be like "Oh yeah, they could have slot of funny stuff in here". But it's not as good as I was hoping. And costar zooey something rather, was annoying. She sings crappy songs that... Are crappy. On the other hand, it has some funny moments, and fans of Jim Carrey kind of comedies may be slightly disapointed, but should at least kind of like this.

Land of the Lost-8.2

PG-13 - Suggestive themes (man I love using that, it just...covers so much...), minor language

If you have ever seen the show, Land of the Lost, from the '70s or something, you can easily see how easily it could be made fun of. Which is what this 2009 movie is about. Dr. Rick Marshall is a misunderstood scientist analyzing the stuff of warp holes. In which he gets made fun of for. Until one day, with a few other people, he steps into one. Tossing him into a world of oddities. One could call it the... Land of the lost? This movie is a funny ones, and for the most part, "clean". You may recognize Danny McBride in this movie who is also in Hot Rod and Tropic Thunder, and if you've ever heard of The Lonely Island (band)? Band behind the awesome "I'm on a Boat" music video, you probably won't recognize that band's Jorma Taccone, he plays the monkey in this movie, he also is in Hot Rod. Anyways, fans of Will Ferrel and such will like this movie, well, I would think most people in general will find it some kind of funny.

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels-7.8/10

R-For F bombs 'n such, bit of violence, and may have been brief nudity.

This 1998 movie directed by RocknRolla's Guy Ritchie is somefin' to fink about. If you read my review for RocknRolla you can probably guess that this movie as well is... accented? Everyone has an accent in it basically. Anyways, also like RocknRolla this movie focuses on a group of criminals and there dealings with other criminals. It's an alright movie, with some nice humor. Something of interest you may want to know is that this is Jason Statham's (Transporter) first movie. Another character you'll recognize is Jason Flemyng, who appears with Statham in Transporter 2 as one of the scientists. Another movie you may just recongizr Flemyng from is League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, he plays Dr. Jeckyl. At any rate, this is basically a RocknRolla kind of storyline, The Bank Job kind of feel, with crazy weed sellers like in Pineapple Express. So there you have it.

Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story-8.8/10

R- For basically everything possible. Except violence.

This hilarious spoof of 'Walk the Line' is about Dewey (John C. Reily) and how he becomes a famous singer. The movie is filled with recognizable faces. The Office fans will recognize the actors who play Andy, Pam, and Daryll. It, to me, was a very funny movie, making fun not only of Walk the Line, but of all those stupid songs and people. At one point in the movie he's singing about utter nonsense (mouse with the overbite stares at the moon) and a guy asks "what's that even mean?" and another replies, while crying, "that's deep stuff man". Oh, and remember that kid that had a popular TV show, made maybe one popular movie, and then kinda just died off? I think his name was Frankie Munez, he plays Buddy Holly in this. So basically I'd recommend this to any comedy fans who aren't afraid of the extreme R rating, but more directly, fans of Step Brothers and that kind of humor will enjoy this deeply.

"Get outta here Dewey, you don't want no part of this!"
"And you not once payed for drugs... Not once."

Supernatural TV Show-8.0/10

Supernatural is a TV show about two brothers, Dean and Sam Winchester who fight demons. This is a really cool and interesting show, but has been widely overlooked the last three seasons. It's on the CW channel, and a new episode every Thursday or so. I was fortunate enough to have actually borrowed the previous seasons from a friend, so as to see them consecutively, as their is a storyline which matters much. And... For your information, Watchmen fans will recognize the father of the Winchester boys, whom is played by Jefrey Dean Morgan, the Comedian in the Watchmen movie. And one last thing, the latest season may offend some? As it actually is very biblically Armageddon set. That doesn't mean you have to be religious either to understand, or like it. So check it out!

Watchmen-9.2/10

R-For nudity(one character walks around naked), violence, and I think cussing.

Ever used the word epic to describe a movie? I don't use it much at all. But this movie is truly epical. This movie focuses on the mysterious death of the former costumed "hero", the Comedian(Jefree Dean Morgan). Rorschach, former companion, searches to find the cause. Other members of the Watchmen hero group are introduces through the movie, as the pieces fall into place. That was a lame little plot paragraph thing. There's a lot to this movie and that didn't really do it justice. This is a good movie with great effects. And fans of the movie will like the comic, or the other way around. I was disapointed, however, by how poorly this movie did in the box office. This movie should have done at least as good as 300, or Iron Man...

"Yeah, human bean juice"-Rorschach

"You know the kind of cancer you can cure? Not that kind."- I don't remember...

Young Frankenstein-7.4

PG- Although there is some suggestive themes...

This 1974 comedy focuses on the grandson of the notorious Frankenstein. Dr. Frankenstein (Gene Wilder) is simply a teacher trying to live down his families repuation. But when he inherits his grandfathers castle, he attempts to recreate...(drumroll) life! This is pretty funny, Gene Wilder (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) is as funny as he usually is. Which is a good thing. I highly recommend you watch, if haven't already, any of the serious frankenstein movies before watching this. Else some parts may not be quite as funny. The actor who plays the monster played the role of Raymond's dad in Everybody Loves Raymond. If you've seen this movie here's a trivia question for you: What character does Gene Hackman play?

Just Friends-7.5/10

PG-13 - Some suggestive themes I guess. They cuss a bit, but I don't think any F bombs.

This romance comedy stars Ryan Reynolds(The Proposal, X-Men Origins) and Amy Smart(Crank, Starsky and Hutch). During high school Chris (Reynolds) was a fat kid. Jamie(Smart) was his best friend. Years have gone by, and Chris is now a notfat celebrity chaperone or something... while with the popular yet stupid Samantha James (Anna Faris) he takes a pit stop in his hometown... This is a funny movie to see with good acting by Reynolds, Smart, and Faris, with a good, yet somewhat cliche ending. Fans of Scary Movie or jist Ryan Reynold's movies in general should enjoy this. I don't really know what else to say... Nor can I remember any quotes...

Coming up...

I figured I'd give you a little information on what to expect within the next month or something, starting now I will include quotes I liked from the movie. If I have time, I'll update previously written reviews. I've also, you've probably noticed, added good old fasioned advertisements to the site! Anyways... I'm always open to suggestions, so just ask, tell, or complain if you feel the need. I'll try to stick with the 2movies a day routine I've been keepin up, so keep an eye out. And lastly, here's what's comin' up:
Shoot 'em Up
Max Payne
Penelope
Watchmen
Shooter
The Italian Job
Just Friends
Young Frankenstein
Crank
The International

RocknRolla-8.0/10

R- F Bombs are dropped through out the movie, brief nude bum scene, and... suggestive themes, I guess would be the correct term to use.

This is a lovely little 2008 movie starring 300's Gerard Butler about criminals and crime lords and such. I would have said gangsters, but you'd probably first think of is the americanized/modernized 'gangsta'. At any rate, Onetwo (Gerard Butler's real name is never revealed) is part of 'The Wild Bunch' a group of criminals fighting the crime lords and doing small roberies. Now there's a whole lot more to this movie, in fact, I had to watch this movie twice to fully connect the dots, but for the sake of not confusing you, or myself, I'll leave it at that. It's set in the UK, so everyone has a accent which may cause problems for those who don't understand it. It's a good movie though, filled with many interesting characters, some touches of comedy, and of course, action. I'd recommend it to fans of Smokin' Aces, The Bank Job, and 'Locked, Stocked, and Two Smokin Barrels'(same director). All of which Reviews will be posted within a month or so!

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles-5.8/10

R- Do not be decieved, it's a mostly clean movie, save for an angry Steve Martin scene, where F bombs are dropping like flies.

Released in 1987, this isn't really particularly my kind of comedy, but it was on so, alright. And it has Steve Martin, he's usually pretty funny. Co-starring is John Candy. So this business guy (Steve Martin) is goin home to his family for Thanksgiving. He's trying to get a taxi (he's in Chicago) and this fat guy (John Candy) steals his taxi. The rest of the movie is just Martin trying to get home, while constantly running into the annoying and overly talkative fat guy. It has it's moments, and there's a few cool cameos. At any rate, Steve Martin fans should enjoy it. Family Guy fans may catch a quote from this movie in the episode 'Baby not on Board' during Peter's "I'm an easy target, sure I talk too much, I also listen to much" speech and in the episode 'Road to Rupert' the scene where Brian and Stewie are crashing in the helicopter is from this movie. Funny stuff.

Any Requests?

I'm fine with keepin goin on postin reviews bout movies I've most recently seen, but keep in mind, if there is a movie you want me to review, just let me know and I will see what I can do!

The Transporter Trilogy-8.8/10

PG-13 - For violence, which isn't gruesome or anything, I don't think they cuss much in these... Brief nudity in Transporter 2.

Ah yes... The Transporter movies, including The Transporter, The Transporter 2, and The Transporter 3. Lovely titles, eh? These action packed movies revolve around Frank Martin (Jason Statham), a transporter for hire. A transporter, in this situation, is one who transports illegal or secret goods. And here's my review for The Transporter, released in 2002:
Begins with a nice chase scene, adequately introducing you to Frank Martin, and how serious he takes his transporting job. He keeps his job hush hush, but his chief of police friend, ironic?, is a tad suspicious. This is probably the best of the three Transporters, and even though the storyline is quite basic, the fight scenes, chase scenes, music, and the mostly good acting makes up for it. Next up, Transporter 2, released in 2005:
The first few minutes parallel the first movie up to the point where Frank is about to pick up his next item to transport. A child. That's right folks, he goes soft. And wouldn't you know it? There's a point in the movie the kid gets kidnapped. That's the way kids are in movies it seems. At any rate, it's an alright movie, probably the worst of the 3. His most seen enemy wears naught but a bikini the whole time, and her acting was subpar. The fight scenes and such were sufficient. Oh, and the graphics sucked. Transporter 3, released in 2008:
The latest Transporter is pretty good, and starts out with Frank chillin' out with his chief of police friend, when, all of a sudden, some guy drives into the wall of his house, real annoying Kool-Aid man like. This movie has a bit of a confusing storyline, which is my main complaint. And his girlfriend is kind of annoying. The main enemy is a good actor, the actors in general do a good job. And the graphics, unlike the second, are nice.
These are a nice set of movies, and began me liking Jason Statham movies, his fighting style reminds me of what Bruce Lee would be like if he was white, and his cool guy dispotion reminds me of Clint Eastwood or Steve McQueen.

Murder by Death-7.0/10

Not rated-But if I would say PG13, it was made in '76 so the cussing is minimal.

To start off let me inform you this movie was made in 1976. It's a comdey starring Truman Capote(a movie was recently made about him called 'Capote'). Although he stars in it, he isn't in it that much... Other actors include David Niven, Peter Falk, Peter Sellers, Alec Guinness, and some other people you probably don't know. It's a spoof whodunit comedy, with some pretty funny lines. Although, keep in mind, this is the '70s and as such, some may be offended by Peter Sellers character, Wang, the Japanese defective. Almost as racist as 'Breakfast at Tiffany's'. As for storyline, basically a handful of top notch detectives get invited, and then trapped in a mansion to solve a murder. For you people who have no idea who any of the people are I mentioned above, David Niven and Peter Sellers were in the original Pink Panther. Peter Falk was in... Columbo? And Alec Guiness was Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars:A new hope. I'd recommend this movie, although all you kids these days with your iPhones and skateboards and such may not find this humor... Humorous...

Paranormal Activities-2.1/10

R-Mainly for numerous F bombs

For a long time I have looked for a movie that would legitimately scare me. So when I caught wind of this 'Paranormal Activities' being "scariest movie ever", I had a spark of hope. A week or so later, I watched it. I still need to find a movie that will scare me. I don't quite see why this movie would scare... Anyone. The storyline was far too predictable and the characters were... Lame, to say the least. About the movie, a married girl gets haunted and has psychics and such come help her. It drags on, and the 'Cloverfield' camera angle had potential, but that's all it had. And one last thing... This is fictional. I'm so tired of hearing gullible idiots thinking this was a true story or something. Some people...

The Bourne Trilogy-9.3/10

PG13-F bomb dropped once or twice, bloody violence-not overdone

I have spent the last couple of days watching these movies(The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum). And I was pleasantly surprised! Let's start with The Bourne Identity, released in 2002:
Like all the Bourne movies, Matt Damon is the star, he is a man suffering amnesia with two bullets in his back, I'm not one to give the whole plot away, and so that is all I will say about that. It is a well put together story, fight and chase scenes are mostly quite nice. Although the sound seems a bit like a guy just punching a slab of meat for some of the punches thrown. Next, The Bourne Supremacy, released in 2004:
This, obviously, is a sequel to Identity, and after Matt Damon's character becomes... disturbed,he returns into action to see what is going on. There is quite a few actors in this movie I recognized from many other movies, making this a cool movie, at least for me, to see them in. A good movie, but keep in mind, if you didn't like Bourne Identity, what's the logic in you watching the sequel? Next The bourne Ultimatum, released in 2007:
Wrapping up the Bourne movies, this one did not dissapoint! Matt Damon plays a very convincing role, and the others act well. This was a very nicely made movie and sufficiently finished off where Supremacy left off. So here's my advice, if you like movies such as The Transporter, Max Payne, Minority Report, or the storyline with Wolverine's amnesia in the first three X-Men movies, you should like these movies.

Update: A new Bourne Movie is in production.

Now Playing!

Welcome! I have been meaning to make a movie rating blog for a while, and here I am! I will try to not let this blog die as some of my past blogs died... Maybe I will breathe some life into those... Another time, another place! At any rate, this blog will rate and review movies, and, if I feel as though I must, tv shows, and maybe even on special occasions, video games. And maybe albums too... Well anyways... I will post reviews most likely the night I watched the movies, so it could be a tad sporadic... Welcome, and I hope you find my reviews helpful!
